Wycoller Scarecrow
Meanwhile, in Dorset!

In July 2015, quite unexpectedly, I received a message on Facebook from Nicola Dennis, whom I had known as Nicola Hill when I taught her at The Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis in the late Seventies. It was perfect timing!
As a volunteer worker for the Dorset Wildlife Trust, Nicola had co-authored and illustrated Bizzy the Blenny and the Treasure of the Fleet Lagoon (2014) swiftly followed by Learn with Bizzy (2015). Jolly the Oystercatcher and the Enchanted Kingdom was already underway, to be published in 2017.
In both of the narratives, a central character takes the reader on a tour of the rich marine life of the Dorset coastline. With their impressive illustrations and detailed coverage of a wide range of sea creatures, they are ideal for raising the consciousness of primary and lower secondary children and engaging them with the critical issues of conservation.
In tomorrow's blog, I'll link this to the work I had been doing since my 'retirement'.
