Fairy Doors

Fairy Door on Christmas Day

Wycoller is a wonderful place for a writer to live. There are so many things here to fire up the imagination. Amongst the woodland's many joys are the many fairy doors, helpfully installed by Edith the Mouse. If you want to find her on Facebook, you need to search for Trawden Forest Fairies.

I had an interesting correspondence with her when I wrote my poem (not published yet) called 'The Dance of the Fairies'. On Sundays, I work as a room guide in nearby Gawthorpe Hall at Padiham and was asked to read some fairy stories to visiting children on a Victorian Weekend. Most of the ones I found by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Andersen were either too long or too gruesome, so I wrote one of my own.

I'm going to contact Edith again soon to see if she knows of any accommodation for scarecrows!
