Having pored over images of leafcutter ant foragers on the march, it struck me that they looked a little like the soldiers in the Bayeux Tapestry. I talked it over with Nicola and between us we created our own ant tapestry.
The main images show different aspects of the leafcutter colony (here the life of the queen) and the smaller ones highlight major themes of the story (in this case, conservation of the rainforest).
For the top of the page, I produced a ballad which emphasises the theme profiled and at the bottom, Nicola has assembled some of the key facts which someone studying the ants would find of interest.
A3 versions of each of our six panels have been produced for schools to use for display.
