In 2001, my wife Jackie and I published Beastly Bites, an alphabetical set of humorous rhyming couplets about animals eating. Many of these were composed in a spirit of friendly rivalry when we were driving to or from Oldham Sixth Form College. The accompanying Teachers’ Notes, closely linked to the National Literacy Strategy of the time, made this a popular text in local schools. Jackie and I are currently revising the Teachers' Notes and will be offering free workshops for infant classes (Reception to Year 2) for each class set of 25 plus copies purchased.
